6 Weeks Postpartum...and MOTIVATED! {C25k Week 1}

Photo Source: I REPINNED it :)
Did you know that right around the same time that I got pregnant (in March of last year) I was running 5-6 miles three or four times a week? And about 7 months before that, I had ran my first ever 10k. I was at a point in my health and fitness level where I felt I could call myself a RUNNER for the first time ever! (What do you do in your free time? Oh me? I'm a runner. Yep, that's right!)

Well, once I found out I was pregnant, it was pretty difficult to find the energy to run in that first trimester, and the one time that I did, I started spotting and didn't feel right afterwards, so being uber-cautious, I brought it all to a halt...I was 7 weeks pregnant the last time I ran. And this "runner" didn't run again for the next 9 months!

So since popping Ivy out, I've been itching to get my body back in shape. I wish I could say my body was bouncing back just like it did with my other two, but, it's not. This time, my postpartum body is different. *sad face* Maybe it's because I'm older?? Maybe it's just that it's the 3rd baby? Whatever it is, I don't recognize myself in the mirror...and my jeans don't recognize me...the refuse to fit, those stubborn things!

But that's all going to change! Last Friday I hit the 6 week postpartum mark when I finally was all clear to start exercise safely again! And to get back in shape, I'm getting back into running.

This will be my second time following the Couch to 5k Program. The first time I did it is was after having Cole in 2009. In a year I had lost all the baby weight PLUS about 10 extra pounds, and was running 30 minutes every other day. John joined me last time, and this time he's doing it again with me. I'm so excited! We did our first workout on Monday. It felt amazing to break a sweat and get my heart rate up. And running always gets me in a zone where I can clear my head. It's free therapy :)

So I'd like to track my progress...you know, to KEEP me motivated. The C25k is a 9 week program, and as I combine that with healthy eating (no dieting because I am nursing) I'd like to see what progress I'm making along the journey.

So I'm about to put myself way out there and do something way out of my comfort zone! Brace yourself, because I am going to tell you how much I weigh! Eeeeeeeeeeek!

Current weight: 147
Goal weight: 130

That is a weight loss goal of 17 pounds, and let me make it clear, I do not expect to loose that in 9 weeks. As a nursing mom, I have to be aware of my milk supply, and having a banging bod isn't worth loosing my milk quality! So there won't be any extreme dieting or excessive exercising. I need to take it slow and steady. I'm doing this not only to get my body back, but just to feel healthier and be at a good fitness level....aaaaaaaaand hopefully not have to spend money on bigger jeans :)

So every week I plan to weigh in, and give an update about how I am doing with the program! Hopefully this is the accountability I need to keep me on track!

One thing that I am really excited about in all this is that John is joining me. I can't wait till we get to run that first 5k together in the Spring :)

Glowing (aka: SWEATING) after my first run in MONTHS!!!

Wish me luck!!!
